About Farawa

What is Farawa?

Farawa is a venture studio, strategy practice, and research publisher based in Lagos, Nigeria. It builds the operating infrastructure for African commerce — layer by layer, choke point by choke point, with trust as the through-line. Farawa operates through three arms: Farawa SGP (strategy), a portfolio of ventures it builds and runs itself, and Farawa Insights (research and publishing).

Who owns and operates Farawa?

Farawa is the trading name of Farawa Media/PR Village Square Ltd., a company registered in Nigeria under RC number 1970176 and headquartered in Lagos. It was founded by Killian Mayua, who serves as Founder and Editor-in-Chief and publishes under the byline “Sir K”. Full registration details are on the company information page.

What does the name Farawa mean in practice?

Farawa is where a business begins again — the point at which what it has already built gets converted into something that scales. The company positions itself as infrastructure for the Intelligence Era: the institutions, systems, and platforms that new capability has to run on.

Where is Farawa located?

Farawa is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, and works with clients and ventures across Africa and internationally. The fastest way to reach the team is hello@farawa.co or the contact page.

Farawa SGP and how the work runs

What is Farawa SGP?

Farawa SGP stands for Strategic Growth Partnerships. It is Farawa’s strategy practice, and it is built on one premise: expertise, trust, relationships, and reputation are real assets that simply do not appear on a balance sheet. The work is finding that hidden value and converting it into structures that scale. See the services page for how an engagement runs.

How is Farawa different from a consultancy or an agency?

Most growth strategy starts with what is missing. Farawa starts with what a business has already built. It is also an operator, not only an adviser: Farawa builds and runs its own ventures, so the frameworks it applies to clients are the same ones it uses on its own balance sheet.

What are the Strategic Growth States?

Strategic Growth States are a diagnostic that places a business in one of three positions. Formation is the move from potential to structure, where momentum exists but the systems to sustain it do not. Transformation is the move from expertise to enterprise, where real value is trapped in one person’s time. Evolution is the move from institution to ecosystem, where the risk is no longer survival but stagnation. The framework is set out in full in Growth States.

What is the Hidden Value Economy?

The Hidden Value Economy is Farawa’s term for the uncounted capital most businesses already hold: expertise, trust, relationships, and reputation. Because none of it shows up in the accounts, growth strategy routinely ignores it and reaches for something new instead. Farawa’s position is that converting what already exists is faster, cheaper, and more durable than acquiring what does not. Read The Hidden Value Economy.

What happens in a Farawa engagement?

Four stages. Understand: identify the expertise, trust, relationships, and reputation already accumulated, before proposing anything. Diagnose: locate the business within Formation, Transformation, or Evolution. Convert: turn hidden capital into structured assets such as systems, offers, ventures, or platforms. Compound: connect those assets so each reinforces the others.

How do I start working with Farawa?

Every engagement opens with a diagnostic session rather than a pitch. Tell Farawa where the business currently stands and the first conversation is spent locating it, not selling to it. Start at the contact page or email hello@farawa.co.

Ventures and portfolio

What companies has Farawa built?

Farawa builds and operates ventures across business automation, fintech, agribusiness, sports media, education, enterprise software, and security — including OGAMI, ZumaGrid, Cuboid, Elevestos, SportFara, IyaLife, and Uradi. Each targets a specific choke point in African commerce rather than a general market opportunity. The full list is on the ventures page.

What is the difference between Farawa’s ventures and its portfolio?

Ventures are companies Farawa builds and operates itself. Portfolio is strategy work delivered for businesses Farawa does not own — proof that the diagnostic travels across sectors it has no stake in.

Does Farawa invest in or partner with outside companies?

Farawa works with outside businesses in three modes: delivered, advisory, and co-executed. Which one applies depends on what the diagnostic finds and how much of the conversion Farawa is asked to carry. Enquiries go to hello@farawa.co.

Farawa Insights

What is Farawa Insights?

Farawa Insights is Farawa’s research publication. It covers infrastructure, trust, and growth in African markets, and it publishes the frameworks Farawa deploys before they become case studies. Every piece passes an editorial gate before it goes live.

What are the Infrastructure Bleed and the Trust Tax?

The Infrastructure Bleed describes how value leaks at every weak layer of a six-layer stack: physical, market, institutional, regulatory, human, and trust. The Trust Tax is what happens at the deepest of those layers — in low-trust markets, trust falls back on personal relationships, the most expensive and least scalable infrastructure there is, and every transaction pays the difference.

Can I republish or cite Farawa research?

Yes, with attribution to Farawa and a link to the canonical URL. The preferred article citation format is: Mayua, K. (year). “Title.” Farawa Insights. For syndication or licensing, write to hello@farawa.co.

How do I follow Farawa Insights?

New pieces are published to the Farawa Insights RSS feed. Killian Mayua also writes as @askmisterk on X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.

Still holding a question?

A first conversation is a diagnostic, not a pitch.
